I support Laurel because she understands the UUA’s need to grow spiritually deeper. She is committed to a spiritually present UUA.

Laurel gets Policy Governance; Laurel knows the spiritual issues we feel; Laurel works for inclusion and connection; and because the colleagues I respect the most have encouraged me to listen and I like what I hear.

Laurel is the real thing! She inspires those around her to reach deeper in their own lives and, in turn, become the change they’ve been waiting for. It is a very powerful gift she brings and inspires others to bring. It could become a spark for great change in hearts and in the world.

Unitarian Universalism will grow only if it reaches spiritual maturity as a faith community, confident in its transformative power. The central issue isn't what needs to be done (we all agree!), but who can best harness and lead our faith. As the superb minister that she is, Laurel Hallman deepens our understandings and strengthen our commitments. She has a long term successful record in fund raising, people management, financial planning and organizational performance improvement.

Laurel Hallman is my choice for UUA President because she has the leadership skills, the character, the spiritual depth and the vision that will take our tradition where we need to go in the 21st century. Laurel is one of the finest ministers I know and she understands how to run effective institutions. She is a tremendous speaker who can motive people to live their ideals and transform their lives. I will do whatever I can to support Laurel as our president and I hope other people who believe that it is time for UUism to, once again, become one of America's most influential faiths will join me in supporting her.

We are called to step up and claim our religious voice in the face of this changing world. Laurel’s voice speaks for love in the face of fear; hope in the struggle for justice. She understands both the incredible responsibilities of our religious freedom and the need for our voice to be a dominant religious voice in America.

When I stumbled upon Unitarian Universalism in 2002, I was a college student struggling with my faith. Upon entering the doors of First Unitarian Church in Dallas, I felt welcomed. Rev. Dr. Laurel Hallman was actively involved in welcoming me as a newcomer and co-teaching my
Roots class. I was touched that such a busy woman, with such a large congregation, was able to make time to speak to me and encourage my growing liberal faith.
Without Laurel Hallman, I might not be a Unitarian Universalist, and I might not be entering the ministry. Such passion for our faith, as well as the organizational ability to bring people together, is what our denomination desperately needs.
I fully support Laurel Hallman's candidacy for president of the UUA.

April 2008 - An open letter to all congregations:
I write to request you nominate Rev. Dr. Laurel Hallman to be a candidate for President of the Unitarian Universalist Association (UUA). UUA policy requires a potential candidate be nominated by at least five congregations from five different districts. Your nomination will accknowledge she is qualified to be a candidate for this office.
Laurel has been the Senior Minister of the First Unitarian Church of Dallas since 1987. She was my minister from that time until my wife, Lori, and I moved to Nashua, NH in 1998. Laurel married Lori and me and she dedicated both of our children, Andrea and Grant. I worked with Laurel in my various roles as a lay leader at the Dallas church: chair of the Membership Committee, Vice President, President, numerous canvasses, and a memorable campaign to fund and |

While in law school, I attended a mid-size congregation led by Reverend Laurel Hallman. I appreciated the intentional ministry Reverend Hallman offered to young adults; she modeled congregational leadership which spoke well to the wide-range of ages and diversity within our liberal religious community. The depth of Reverend Hallman's sermons, her humor, spiritual direction, and sense of justice were part of the inspiration which led me to pursue ministry. Her leadership and encouragement sparked me to become a pioneering |
