A Resolution of the Board of Trustees of the First Unitarian Church of Dallas at the Initial Board Meeting on January 27, 2008.The Board of Trustees of the First Unitarian Church of Dallas, Texas, in this its first meeting of 2008, resolves as follows:
Whereas, The Reverend Dr. Laurel Hallman has been the Senior Minister of the First Unitarian Church of Dallas for the past 21 years;
Whereas, During her tenure as Senior Minister, in addition to serving as a beloved and highly respected spiritual leader both within our congregation and our denomination as a whole, Dr. Hallman has implemented many significant
administrative, management and policy governance changes, such that our church has grown to over 1,000 members and today is a vibrant, thriving and deeply spiritual home for its membership, as well as a leadership congregation within our faith;
Whereas, After a period of deep discernment, Dr. Hallman has decided to seek election to the position of President of the Unitarian Universalist Association of Free Congregations;
Whereas, Although our congregation grieves at the pending loss of Dr. Hallman as our Senior Minister, the Board of Trustees wishes to convey its conviction that Dr. Hallman would bring significant and positive skills and abilities to the Unitarian Universalist Association, and wishes to therefore strongly endorse Dr. Hallman’s candidacy for this position; and
Whereas, the Board of Trustees intends to offer to the congregation as a whole the opportunity to express its own endorsement at our regular congregation meeting to be held in June, 2008.
Now Therefore, The Board of Trustees of the First Unitarian Church of Dallas strongly and unequivocally endorses the Reverend Dr. Laurel Hallman for the position of President of the Unitarian Universalist Association.
