First Unitarian Church of Dallas Membership Resolution
Approved by acclamation with standing ovation at the First Unitarian Church of Dallas semi-annual Parish Meeting on June 8th, 2008.


Whereas The Reverend Doctor Laurel Hallman has served as the Senior Minister of First Unitarian Church of Dallas for 21 years, and

Whereas she has worked tirelessly to expand and strengthen all areas of the church including worship, religious education, volunteer service and social justice, and

Whereas the church has grown from 550 to 1100 members during her tenure as Senior Minister, and

Whereas under her leadership the church has adopted a policy-governance model of leadership, and

Whereas she has guided the congregation to a greater public commitment to civil rights and social justice, and

Whereas she has served the district in various positions including President of the Southwestern UU Conference Ministers Association, Trustee on the Southwest District Board, and Program Director of the Southwestern UU Summer Institute, and

Whereas she has served the denomination as a member of the Meadville Lombard Theological School Board of Trustees, the UUA's Ministerial Fellowship Committee, and the UUA President's Council, and

Whereas through her spiritual depth, clarity of vision and spiritual wisdom she has moved us individually and as a congregation to live our ideals and transform our lives,

Be it therefore resolved that the members of First Unitarian Church of Dallas enthusiastically endorse the Reverend Doctor Laurel Hallman for the office of President of the Unitarian Universalist Association.
